Teens on Drugs on the Subway on Film on My Mind

Recently I was taking the subway home on a Friday night - about 8:30pm - and saw these awesome kids fucked up out of their minds on drugs waiting on the platform next to me.  They got on the L train from Union Sq heading into Brooklyn.

I started covertly videotaping them; I waggled my finger in front of the phone screen to give the illusion I was playing Tetris or something instead of videoing.  However, after a while, the guy started to give me a dirty look and started whispering to the girls.  All I heard him say was a hiss: "she looks like she shops at J. Crew."

There's two things that really get me about these kids:

1. It was February in New York, and they're not wearing jackets or even tights. She's wearing a tank top! Where are their jackets?! These crazy kids are going to catch their death out here!

2. It was only 8:30pm.  What kind of even were they on their way to at 8:30pm on a Friday that they had ALREADY taken drugs for?  Is there an early bird special at the drug dealer's or something?

I consider filming these kids my finest moment, and I'm so happy to share it with you:

This is one of the best posts I've seen on here in 3 years.

This is your finest moment!

This is making me inexplicably sad. I think it's because it shattered my previous (albeit sheltered) ideal of rave kids as being super hot and of a European demeanor. I guess all good things have to come to an end, but I wish it didn't have to happen this way.

They were giving YOU a hard time about what you were wearing? I could find about a half-dozen fashion violations on the blond chick alone.

Wow. I don't know what to say about this other than that I am very proud of you for capturing it in video.

The first clip, on the platform: your voice! So exciting to this dedicated fan!

it's like you broke the third wall-creating your own pictures/videos for us to cherish. BTW, what is that...ecstasy and booze?

My thoughts on orange guy; there must be an Oompa Loompa in the woodpile.

This is my worst nightmare as a mother of a teenage girl! Please God don't let her ever be like this! She's still UES-enough to wear JCrew for the time being.

I'm a different Anonymous from the creepy one- just couldn't be bothered to create blog.

Yes but, more to the point, do you or do you not shop at JCrew?

Also, I will never, ever, ever understand or be able to relate to any person doing the generic middle finger and a "suck on this, bitch" etc. I mean, who is she imagining there. Even if you glibly reply, "her dad/mom" or whatever, I wonder, really? This is how a person acts? I just don't get the impulse. Of course, maybe the pacifier and all the other affectations should just prove to me that this human deserves exclusion from the folks I try to relate to.

These videos are *fucking* amazing; I can't wait for this artifact to be part of a museum piece about the American decline.
