My favorite kind of photos to find are the handful of scanned in prints a grown up person who is now married with kids uploads of their wild youth. These are from a woman who now has teenage kids of her own, and has a few pics of her punk days growing up in Pittsburgh. The photos are from a time she and her punk friends went to a local frat party and felt out of place.
This reminds me of my favorite 80s movie trope, where a bunch of rowdy punks crash a fancy party, i.e. the Beastie Boys "Fight for Your Right" video or the party scenes in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Trading Places
shit is real, b.
ReplyDeleteI am so not going to grow old gracefully. I can already feel the gripping bitterness take hold.
ReplyDeleteSome Kind of Wonderful. Not exactly punks, but close enough, and Elias! Koteas! at his most delicious.
ReplyDeleteYour description reminded me of that movie with Justine Bateman where she's the lead singer of some all girl band and they end up at some weird ritzy party then end up in jail...am i getting my 80s movies confused?
ReplyDeleteThats not really punk; that was the " material girl" era madonna look circa 1985. I remember my older sister and her friends dressing just like this...
